Fort Bragg Travel Guide
Welcome to Fort Bragg!
The majesty of redwood forests married with refreshing Pacific Ocean air characterizes Fort Bragg, which is located approximately halfway between Eureka and San Francisco. Visitors can enjoy several beaches in the area, including Glass Beach, which was at one time the local garbage dump. Today, the area has been reclaimed and reveals a trove of smooth and polished glass, remnants from the previous use of the land. The local Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens are the only gardens in the continental United States that front onto the ocean, and provide an ideal environment for growing rhododendrons. There are several events throughout the spring celebrating these flowers, such as the annual Mendocino Coast Festival of Gardens and the guided walks that showcase the best of these blooms. For visitors who wish to venture further afield, the Skunk Train runs on 30 mi (48 km) of track through inland forests, offering a glimpse into the magnificence of the redwoods and the coastal forest environment.
